Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for September 8th, and two Battling Bishops earned honors in their respective sports. Freshman Anthony Janezic was tabbed the league's Defensive Rookie of the Week in football, while freshman Julius Oskarsson was named Rookie of the Week in men's soccer.

Defensive Rookie of the Week
Anthony Janezic, N.C. Wesleyan - The
freshman defensive back from Tampa, Florida grabbed his
first career interception in a 40-19 loss to Stevenson.
Janezic returned the INT 18 yards to stop a drive.
He also tallied three solo tackles and one assisted takedown
in the defeat.
Men's Soccer
Rookie of the Week
Julius Oskarsson, N.C. Wesleyan - The
freshman forward from Reykjavik, Iceland tallied three
goals for six points as the Bishops posted a
0-1-1 record last week. In a 4-3 loss to Christopher
Newport, Oskarsson scored the team's second goal of the
contest in the 70th minute. In a 2-2 double-overtime tie with York,
Oskarsson notched both of his team's goals including one with less
than a minute remaining in regulation time.
