Don Hines was a standout men's basketball player for
the Battling Bishops. He was selected as the Dixie Conference
Tournament’s Most Valuable Player in 1965 and was named First
Team All-Dixie in 1966. Additionally, Hines was
Wesleyan’s Most Outstanding Male Athlete in 1965-66, as well
as the team’s Most Valuable Player.
Hines scored 39 points versus Augusta (#3 all-time at time of
induction), had 19 rebounds versus Lynchburg (#7 all-time at time
of induction) and made 17 free-throws against Augusta (#1 all-time
at time of induction). His season accomplishments include
24.5 points per game average (#2 all-time at time of induction) and
he made 97 free-throws (#9 all-time at time of induction) during
the 1965-66 season.
