Laffin Heads Up Baseball All-Conference Honorees

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2012 All-Conference awards for baseball with a total of 45 student-athletes being named to the All-Conference teams. Senior outfielder Pat Laffin led North Carolina Wesleyan as a First Team pick, while five other Bishops garnered accolades.

Laffin led the team with a .372 batting average in conference play and boasted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in right field. He was joined on the All-Conference team by sophomore first baseman Will Beasley, who finished second behind Laffin with a .370 average in league games en route to a Second team nod.

Rounding out Wesleyan's honorees were junior shortstop Jake Alexander, junior catcher Tyler Clark and senior third baseman Andre' Nichols as Honorable Mentions. Alexander currently leads the team with a .326 batting average, followed closely by Nichols at .313. Clark has thrown out 50 percent of would-be basestealers and leads the team in RBIs with 30.

Freshman Brad Guengerich was NCWC's representative on the league's All-Sportsmanship team.

Elsewhere around the league, Ferrum College's Paul Jaglowski collected Player of the Year honors, Methodist University's Chris Perry earned Pitcher of the Year accolades, Greensboro College's James Feldmann grabbed Rookie of the Year honors, Shenandoah University's Matt Riegler picked up the Rookie Pitcher of the Year award, while Christopher Newport University's John Harvell collected Coach of the Year honors.
