Rocky Mount, N.C. - Sophomore Hatteras Brooks tossed six scoreless innings, scattering five hits and striking out four to lead his North Carolina Wesleyan baseball squad to a 5-0 win over Emory & Henry in Sunday's rubber game at Bauer Field. The Bishops had previously split a doubleheader with the Wasps on Saturday, taking the opener by a 3-1 score before falling 8-2 in the nightcap.

On Sunday, the Bishops got all the offense they would need in the bottom of the second when a James Johnson RBI-groundout plated Jake Alexander, who had singled to lead off the inning. NCWC added to its lead with a pair of runs in the third as freshman Justin DiSanto and Alexander each an recorded an RBI.

Wesleyan added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth for the 5-0 final.  Alexander finished 3-for-4 at the plate, while DiSanto and Alexis Rodriquez had two hits apiece.

Freshman Ciro Norzagaray teamed with Brooks for the shutout, throwing the final three scoreless frames to earn his first career save.

Previously on Saturday, NCWC earned its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory in game one. Each team scratched a run in the third, while Alexander drove home the eventual game-winning run with an RBI-double in the Bishops' final at-bat. He later scored on a RBI-single by Johnson.

Will Beasley (1-1) picked up the win on the mound, going six complete and allowing one run on four hits while striking out eight. Senior Jake Swartout tossed a scoreless seventh to earn his first save of the season.

EHC later took game two by an 8-2 decision. Freshman Macon Hammond and Johnson had a pair of hits apiece, but the Bishops could not overcome a 3-run first and 5-run fourth by the Wasps.

Wesleyan (2-4) returns to action at 2:00pm on Thursday at St. Andrews College before kicking off USA South play at Methodist on Friday.
