Maryville, Tenn. - N.C. Wesleyan's baseball squad earned its second straight USA South series win over the weekend, taking two of three games at Maryville College. Junior Will Beasley tossed a gem in Saturday's opener to help Wesleyan to a 3-1 win, while senior Jake Alexander went 2-for-3 with two RBIs in Sunday's 10-1 rubber game victory. The wins sandwiched an 11-4 loss to the Scots in game two of the series.

In the series opener, the Bishops plated single runs in the first, second and fifth frames to take a 3-0 lead into the late innings. Freshman Justin DiSanto scored the game's first run on a Stephen Machin RBI-single to left field, while Hayden Williams and J.J. Rodriguez had RBIs in the second and fifth, respectively.

Beasley (2-2) went 8.2 innings on the mound, scattering seven hits and allowing one run while striking out three. Freshman Dillon Moore recorded the game's final out to secure his third save.

After dropping game two 11-4, Wesleyan rebounded on Sunday for a 10-1 win in the rubber game. Sophomore Hatteras Brooks (3-2) went the distance, allowing just one run on four hits with nine strikeouts.

Freshman Ciro Norzagaray drove home the game's first run with an RBI-single in the third, while NCWC plated two runs in the fifth, one of which came on an RBI-single by Alexander that scored DiSanto. The Bishops added a single run in the eighth before erupting for six runs in the ninth.
