Pair of Baseball Bishops Earn USA South Honors

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly awards for April 1st, and two Battling Bishops have earned recognition in baseball. Freshmen Ciro Norzagaray and Robert Mondoux were tabbed the league's Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, after leading Wesleyan to a 4-1 week.

Baseball Rookie of the Week
Ciro Norzagaray, N.C. Wesleyan - The Mexico City, Mexico freshman third baseman went 10-for-23 (.435) with seven runs scored, four RBI and two doubles last week. In a doubleheader split with St. Andrews, Norzagaray was a combined 4-for-9 with one run scored, one run batted in and one double. Finally, in a three-game sweep of USA South foe Ferrum, he was a combined 6-for-14 with six runs scored, three RBI and one double. This is his second Rookie of the Week award of the season and fourth overall, having previously picked up a pair of Rookie Pitcher of the Week accolades.

Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Robert Mondoux, N.C. Wesleyan - The Plant City, Florida freshman earned a no-decision in his only appearance last week for the Bishops. In a 2-1, 13-inning win over St. Andrews, Mondoux started and tossed ten complete innings, allowing just one run on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. This is his first award of the season.
