Montgomery, Ala. - The Battling Bishop baseball team opened its 2015 slate over the weekend with a three-game USA South series at Huntingdon College. Junior Ciro Norzagaray blasted a pair of homers and batted .500 (5-for-10) during the set, but Wesleyan had no answer for the Hawk bats in falling by 10-7, 10-9 and 13-5 scores.

The most exciting game of the series came on Saturday. After Huntington raced out to an 8-0 lead after four innings of play, the Battling Bishops scored nine unanswered runs for a late 9-8 advantage. Seven of those runs came in the top of the eighth inning as NCWC ripped four hits, drew four walks and capitalized on a pair of HC fielding errors. The big blast came from the bat of Norzagaray, who hit a go-ahead three-run homer to right center with two outs.

Unfortunately, the Bishops could not protect the lead. Huntingdon managed to plate single runs in the eighth and ninth to earn the walk-off victory.

In addition to Norzagaray, senior Stephen Machin and sophomore Kaelan Jacobs also turned in solid offensive numbers, combining for nine hits and ten runs scored over the three-game span. Jacobs belted his first homer of the season in Friday's opener and finished the series with four RBIs.

Wesleyan returns to the diamond next Saturday at Christopher Newport. The Bishops will face the host Captains at 11:00am, followed by a neutral site contest versus Bridgewater at 2:00pm.
