Rocky Mount, N.C. - Sophomore Ryan Grant and senior George Moore each picked up wins on the mound over the weekend, leading their N.C. Wesleyan baseball team to a USA South series win over William Peace. Originally scheduled to be played in Raleigh, the series shifted to Bauer Field after last week's ice storm left the Pacer facility unplayable. NCWC went on to secure a doubleheader sweep on Saturday by 5-1 and 4-3 scores, with WPU bouncing back for a 5-2 victory on Sunday.

In the series opener, Grant (1-2) led NCWC to its first win of the season, allowing one run on four hits over six complete. Joseph Borgerding, Dillon Moore and Austin Bain closed out the contest with a scoreless inning each.

Offensively, sophomore Kaelan Jacobs got Wesleyan on the board with an RBI-single in the fifth, while Brad Guengerich and Ciro Norzagaray each drove in runs to cap a 3-run sixth. James Kornegay rounded out the scoring with an RBI-single in the eighth to secure the 5-1 victory.

Guengerich, Norzagaray and Luis Palencia each had a pair of hits for the Bishops, who tallied 12 hits as a team.

Game two saw the Pacers take a 3-1 lead into the eighth inning. A costly WPU fielding error, however, led to a pair of unearned runs for the Bishops, tying the game heading into the ninth. James Lovett proceeded to give NCWC the 4-3 victory with an RBI-sac fly to center that plated Norzagaray with the winning run.

Palencia again paced the Bishop offense with a pair of singles, while Moore tossed a scoreless 1.2 innings in relief, striking out two to even his record at 1-1 on the season.

Sunday's finale belonged to Pacer hurler Christian Neal, who tossed a complete game and struck out a 10 batters en route to the 5-2 Peace win.

The Bishops (2-5, 2-4 USA South) will host a pair of non-conference games on Tuesday and Wednesday versus UMW and W&L, respectively. Both contests are slated for 2:00pm starts at Bauer Field.
