Bishops Baseball Sweeps Peace

CARY, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College baseball team finished off conference foe William Peace University with a three-game road sweep on Sunday as they held on for a 5-3 win.

The Bishops improve to 17-6 overall and 8-3 in the conference with the sweep while Peace falls to 5-17 and 1-10. Wesleyan has now won six games in a row and nine of their last 10.

Sophomore Pitcher Drew Tubb started the game and tossed a solid 7 innings allowing just 3 hits and 2 runs with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts to get the win improving to 3-0. Sophomore reliever Kevin Williams closed out the game for the save with 2 innings pitched allowing 3 hits and one run with no walks and 2 Ks.

Wesleyan out-hit Peace 10-6 on the day led by a 3-hit game from junior RF Logan Jackson. Freshman DH Jackson Murray also recorded a multi-hit game while junior Brad Pennington, senior Trey Croom, and DH Nate Gardner all drove in runs. Pennington gave the Bishops a 3-1 lead in the 5th inning on a two-run single. Gardner then added to their lead with his pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the 8th before Murray made it 5-2 scoring on a wild pitch.

The Bishops are back in action on Friday when they head to Fayetteville to battle rival Methodist (18-5, 9-3) at 6 PM in the first game of a weekend series.
