NC Wesleyan College senior Center Fielder Cedrick Kornegay was named as the USA South Baseball Player of the Week on Monday. It was for the week of games from April 1-7.

Cedrick Kornegay, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior outfielder from Faison, North Carolina was a combined 9-for-17 (.529) with a .500 on-base percentage, a .824 slugging percentage, five runs scored, six RBI, three doubles, one triple and one stolen base in N.C. Wesleyan's 3-1 week. In an 8-7, ten-inning, loss to eighth-ranked Randolph-Macon, Kornegay was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, one double and one stolen base. In a three-game sweep of USA South foe Averett, Kornegay was a combined 6-for-13 with three runs scored, six RBI, two doubles and one triple.
He beat out 8 other nominees for the award. Kornegay is now batting a team-best .391 on the season with 45 hits, 15 extra-base hits and 30 RBIs while also stealing six bases and slugging .609.
He will lead the 21-9 Bishops into a road game with Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday at 3:30 PM before returning home this weekend to host Piedmont on Friday and Saturday for Senior Day.
