ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Baseball team dropped a high-scoring affair to Pfeiffer University 11-7 at home on Monday afternoon.

Wesleyan got out to a 2-1 lead after one inning using DH Jackson Murray's RBI walk and senior 1B Trey Posilero's sacrifice fly. Senior catcher Nick Beaver then made it 4-1 with a 2-run double in the third inning. Pfeiffer, though, would claw their way back to within 4-3 after 6 innings before exploding for 6 runs in the 7th to put the game away leading 9-4.

After trailing 11-4 in the 8th, the Bishops would score 3 runs in the 8th to get within four using a mammoth 2-run homer to center field from senior RF Max Johnson and an RBI single from Murray. Unfortunately, that would be as close as they could get as Pfeiffer won the non-conference contest.

Johnson led the offense going 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored, a walk, a single and a double along with his home run, his 2nd of the season. Senior 2B Brad Pennington also registered 3 hits going 3 for 6 with a double while senior SS Alec Titmus scored two runs along with his 2 hits and a stolen base.

Starting pitcher Galen Beaver picked up a no-decision throwing 4 and 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits and 3 runs with 3 strikeouts. Relievers Zach Woolard and Chris Day also threw scoreless frames with Woolard going 1 and 2/3 and Day throwing 2 innings with 2 Ks.

Pfeiffer improves to 1-0 on the year while Wesleyan falls to 2-3.

The Bishops immediately return to action tomorrow to host St. Andrews University (8-5) at 2 PM.
