ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College baseball team exploded for 12 runs in defeating Penn St. Harrisburg 12-8 for their 4th straight win at Bauer Field on Saturday in the first of a two-game series. Wesleyan then fell 6-0 to the Lions in game 2 of the series on Sunday.

After Wesleyan led just 2-1 after four innings, the Bishop offense exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th led by 3 straight RBI singles from catcher Nick Beaver, and outfielders Zach Lyon and Moses Vigo gave Wesleyan a 6-1 lead. Vigo and CF Drifton Padgett then both came around to score during the next at-bat on two errors from Harrisburg.

A sacrifice fly from senior RF Max Johnson in the 6th and a two-run single from senior SS Alec Titmus in the 7th then made it 11-1 Bishops. An RBI double from Padgett in the 8th then padded Wesleyan's lead to 12-3 before PSH added five runs in the 8th off two Bishop relievers as they mounted a mini comeback. However, senior reliever Michael Smith then came on to close out the game getting the final out.

Junior starter Kevin Williams then threw a terrific game holding the Nittany Lions to only a run on 4 hits and 2 walks with 7 strikeouts over 7 innings. Williams (2-0) has now lowered his ERA to a team-best 1.74.

Lyon led the Bishops with a career-high 4 hits as he went 4 for 5 with 2 runs scored while Padgett went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Johnson and Beaver also tallied multi-hit games for Wesleyan as well.

Senior Relievers Galen Beaver and Noah Shrock also each threw scoreless innings for Wesleyan. Senior reliever Chris Sullivan then allowed three runs and 2 walks in the ninth while junior reliever Chris Day finished the game recording the final two outs.

The Bishops could never quite get their offense going on Sunday with senior RF Max Johnson recording two of the 4 Bishop hits on the day, both triples. Senior LF Moses Vigo and sophomore 1B Jackson Murray also knocked singles for Wesleyan.

Wesleyan falls to 6-10 on the year as their 4-game win streak comes to an end while PSH improves to 4-3.

The Bishops return to action on Tuesday when they head to VA Beach to battle Virginia Wesleyan at 3:00 PM.
