ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Baseball team used two home runs, including a grand slam, from junior 2B Davie Morgan to rout the visiting Pfeiffer Falcons 13-1 in game one of their three-game conference series on Friday afternoon.

Wesleyan (11-9, 4-0 USA South) got out to a fast start in this one scoring three runs in the first inning on a two-run double from junior LF Zach Lyon and an RBI double from junior CF Drifton Padgett. After another run in the 2nd on a groundout, the Bishops scored two more in the third inning on an RBI double from senior 1B Emry Jackson and an RBI single from catcher Jean Lagreca.

Morgan then led off the 4th inning with a mammoth solo home run to give the Bishops a 7-0 lead. Lyon also drove SS Tyson Bass in with a sacrifice fly in the 4th as well. After a Pfeiffer (6-7) run in the 5th off Bishop senior starter Derrick Carter, Wesleyan came back to load the bases in the 7th inning. Morgan then stepped up and crushed another shot over the Bauer Field sign in left field for his first grand slam of the season and plate the Bishops to a 12-1 lead. Morgan's two home runs now give him five on the year while he leads the team with a .357 average and 26 runs scored as well.

An RBI single from sophomore RF Alex Moskal in the 8th inning then ended the game for the Bishops 13-1 in 8 innings. Carter threw 7 of them allowing just one run on 5 hits and 5 walks while striking out six. Senior reliever Kevin Williams tossed a scoreless 8th with two strikeouts.

Morgan led the offense with 3 hits and 5 RBIs while Lyon also had a nice game knocking three hits with two doubles and driving in three runs. Finally, Padgett was the third Bishop to finish with a 3-hit game while 3B Jackson Hobbs, LaGreca, and Moskal all recorded two-hit games as well.
