HIGH POINT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Baseball team put together a game-winning two-run rally in the 9th inning on Saturday to stun the Greensboro Pride 3-2 to win the series against their conference foes. The series was played at HP Rockers Stadium in High Point, NC.

Sophomore starter Danny Thompson threw a solid 7 innings allowing just two runs on 4 hits and 3 walks with 2 Ks while he shut out the Pride over his final four innings to keep the Bishops in the game.

And he did just that as sophomore 3B Jackson Hobbs led off the 8th inning with a solo home run, his team-best 8th on the year, to pull the Bishops within one run. Freshman reliever Hunter Hill then threw a scoreless 8th to give the Bishops a chance in the ninth.

In the ninth, junior outfielder Zach Lyon led off the ninth with a solo homer to tie the game at two. It was his 2nd of the year. Then after a Drifton Padgett single and stolen base, a sacrifice moved him to third base before he came in to score on catcher Jean Lagreca's sacrifice fly for the go-ahead run. Hobbs led the offense with three hits while Lyon knocked two

Hill (1-0) then tossed a scoreless ninth around a leadoff double while striking out three over his two innings to close out the game as the Bishops improve to 12-3 in the East Division and 19-14 overall. GC falls to 11-18 and 6-9 in the division.

The Battling Bishops will next travel to Virginia Beach on Tuesday for a 3:00 game at VA Wesleyan.
