Carter's 5-hit Shutout Leads Bishops to 10-0 Win

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College baseball team rolled to an easy 10-0 shutout win over Mary Baldwin on Saturday afternoon. They rode the 5-hit complete game shutout from senior starting pitcher Derrick Carter and the 18 hits from their offense to the game one win.

Wesleyan totaled 7 hits and sent 10 men to the plate in the first inning en route to taking a 5-0 lead. They scored on run-scoring doubles from Davie Morgan and Drifton Padgett and RBI singles from Blake Scott and Nate Hibbs

SS Tyson Bass then homered in the 4th while outfielder Zach Lyon added RBI singles in the 4th and 8th innings. Senior CF Jacob Kuykendall then added a RBI double in the 8th as well. Morgan, Lyon and Bass led the offense with 3 hits apiece while Morgan connected on 3 doubles. Bass' home run was his team-leading 9th on the season while he is second on the team with 42 runs scored and leads in RBIs with 35.

Carter improves to 7-1 on the year with his 10-strikeout, one walk effort as he now has 77 Ks and a 2.44 ERA on the year. 

The Bishops improve to 21-14 overall and 13-3 in the conference and will next complete their series with MBU on Senior Day Sunday beginning with a Noon doubleheader.
