Baseball Sweeps DH Against Roanoke

Rocky Mount, NC - In game 1 of the DH, the NC Wesleyan baseball team defeated Roanoke by a score of 7-6. Senior righthander Payne Stolsworth had an impressive outing on the mound, pitching 6 innings and giving up just 4 hits while walking two. The Bishops' offense had a great game, recording a total of 14 hits. Catcher Jean Legreca went 4 for 4 at the plate, while Javier Quintana went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Zach Lyon and Jackson Hobbs also had multi-hit games to secure the game 1 win. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Tyson Bass hit a walk-off single after the inning started with an error by Roanoke's second basemen to start the Wesleyan rally.

In game 2, the Bishops won by a score of 5-1 to secure the series sweep. Senior Cord Butler got the nod to start game 3 and pitched 6 innings of 1-hit baseball and gave up only one run. Hunter Hill then came in for relief after Butler and struck out 3 batters in 2 innings of work in a game that was dominated by Wesleyan's arms. On offense, Blake Scott had 3 RBIs and Zach Lyon had 1 hit and walked twice to help the Bishops score 5 runs.

Wesleyan improves to 5-0 on the season and will face Nichols on Friday at 2 PM.
