Baseball Sweeps DH Over Neumann

Rocky Mount, NC - The NC Wesleyan Baseball team swept a DH over Neumann on Sunday. The Bishops dominated both games by scores of 12-0 and 14-2. In game 1, Senior Payne Stolsworth had one of the best outings of his career throwing 7 shutout innings while only walking one batter. Stolsworth also struck out 10 on the afternoon in dominant fashion. On the offensive side of the ball Junior Jackson Hobbs continued to dominate by going 3/4 with 3 RBI's on the afternoon. Transfer Luke Chung also racked up 3 hits on the afternoon for himself and contributed 3 RBI's to G1. Tyson Bass, Javier Quintana, and Zach Lyon also had multi-hit games for the Bishops and scored multiple runs themselves. Wesleyan was able to break the game open by scoring 9 runs in the 6th and 7th to break the game open.

In Game 2, Cord Butler started for Wesleyan and once again delivered a terrific outing. Butler threw 6 innings and struck out 9 by only allowing 3 hits and 1 run. On offense, preseason All-American Davie Morgan hit the only Bishops home run and contributed 3 hits and 4 RBI's. Jackson Hobbs and Luke Chung also had themselves 3 RBI's in the blowout win. The Bishops put up an 8 spot in the 3rd and were able to put the game away early.

This weekend, the Bishops will travel to #3 LaGrange for a highly anticipated rematch of the USA South Conference Championship last year.
