Baseball Sweeps Pfeiffer in Wild Weekend Series

Misenheimer, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan baseball team swept Pfeiffer in their opening USA South conference series. In game one, Wesleyan secured a thrilling 16-14 victory with Tyson Bass delivering the game-tying hit with two outs in the ninth inning scoring 2 crucial runs to swing momentum back in the Bishop's favor. Bass had an outstanding performance at the plate with four hits, while Jackson Hobbs contributed six hits and a staggering seven RBIs to go along with his terrific performance. Zach Lyon also homered, and Jaiden Barker had three hits to help seal the win. The Bishops scored four runs in the ninth to retake the lead from the Falcons.

The Bishops were able to win game 2 by a final of 8-3, with Zach Lyon and Jackson Hobbs led the effort with multi-hit games. Lyon recorded three hits and an RBI, while Hobbs knocked in three of the team's five runs. Senior pitcher Payne Stolsworth was terrific on the mound, tossing seven innings while allowing three runs and striking out seven. Cullen Davis also came in relief and struck out five batters in two innings of work he saw. The Bishops jumped to an early lead, scoring five of their eight runs in the first two innings, and never looked back.

In the final game of the series, Wesleyan sealed the sweep with an 11-7 victory. Zach Lyon had an incredible game, recording four hits and scoring four runs with two RBIs. Jaiden Barker also contributed two hits and three RBIs, while Alex Moskel and Jackson Hobbs both had multi-hit games as well. On the mound, Hunter Hill got the win by throwing 5 innings and only allowing 4 hits.

The Bishops improve to 13-4 on the season and will be in action again on Wednesday night as they have a rematch with Christopher Newport at Bauer Field. The first pitch is set for 6 pm.
