Baseball Falls in USA South Conference Series to William Peace

Cary, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball program dropped two out of three games over the weekend to USA South rival William Peace at the USA Baseball complex. In game one, the Bishop's bats exploded for 13 runs and had multiple players with multi-hit games. Jackson Hobbs put on a show at the dish hitting a grand slam and contributing five RBIs to the 13-9 victory. Third basemen Javier Quintana also had three hits in the affair and Jaiden Barker chipped in two.

On the mound, Senior Payne Stolsworth tossed another gem for the Bishops, dominating in six innings of work only allowing two earned runs and striking five Pacers out.

In game two, Wesleyan had to dig out of a 9-1 deficit in the first inning. While the comeback came up just short in the 13-12 defeat, Zach Lyon impressed at the top of the order with three hits and Jackson Hobbs followed up with another incredible display at the plate, this time accounting for three hits and scoring four of the thirteen runs for the Bishops. While the Bishops fell short, the offense scored two runs every inning from the 3rd-6th inning and three in the 8th.

In game three, which was a pitcher's dual, Wesleyan fell 3-2, but Sophomore RHP Dylan Cheeley tossed seven innings of two-hit baseball and struck out six Pacers. At the plate, 2022 All-American Davie Morgan contributed a home run and a double along with multiple diving stops at 2nd.

While the Bishops lost their first conference series of the year, the baseball program is only 0.5 games out of first and holds a 20-8 record. Baseball will host Greensboro on Friday at 6 p.m
