Wesleyan Advances to Day Two of the USA South Conference Tournament

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball program defeated Greensboro on Friday to advance to the second day of the USA South Conference Tournament. The Battling Bishops defeated Greensboro College by a score of 5-3 on the back of a complete game by Payne Stolsworth.

How It Happened: 

  • The Bishops would strike first in the 4th scoring two runs with Alex Moskel and Jaiden Barker hitting two singles to score Tyson Bass and Davie Morgan.
  • In the 6th Drifton Padgett would strike with a triple down the left field line and a Colin Scoggins single got two more runs on the board in response to the two-run home run by the Pride in the top of the inning.
  • Senior RHP Payne Stolsworth's win would tie the NCAA Division III lead with a perfect 10-0 record. Stolsworth also leads the conference in ERA and strikeouts.
  • Junior RF Tyson Bass also now ranks 7th in NCAA Division III in walks with 38.

Wesleyan will face Pfeiffer in a best-of-three series starting Saturday at 2:00 to determine the bracket one winner in the USA South Tournament.
