North Carolina Wesleyan Cheer place 3rd in the Nation

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - On Thursday, April 5, the Battling Bishops Cheer Team started the first round of the NCA Collegiate Championship Competition in Daytona Beach with a strong performance including a raw score of 93.3% putting the team in 3rd place out of 10 at the end of day one. Coaches Lyndsey and Pete Graham made some adjustments to improve the team's overall score prior to performing on day two.

On Friday, after a strong morning practice and a very confident warm up, the Bishops took the mat for the second time. The team improved their technique in both stunt sections substantially, as well as the running and standing tumbling sections of their routine. The squad recovered from what was almost a major building fall to finish the routine strong with the dance.

In the end, the majority of the scores improved for day two with the raw score improving to a 93.47%. During awards, the team found out that they had held on to their place and received the honor of third place out of ten teams in the Division III Small co-ed Intermediate competition.

Coaches Lyndsey and Pete Graham said, "We are incredibly excited for this team. Third place after everything this team has gone through this year is an amazing accomplishment and they couldn't be happier!!! GO BISHOPS!!!"
