Grimsley Named Head Cheer Coach

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - NC Wesleyan College Director of Athletics Aaron Denton has announced Tonia Grimsley as the new head Men's and Women's Cheer Coach for the Battling Bishops in the summer of 2021. 

She will begin her first season in August and replaces the coaching duo of Pete and Lindsey Graham who were here over the past three seasons and oversaw the start of the Cheer and Dance program at Wesleyan.

Since the summer of 2018, Grimsley has been the All-Star Cheer Director at Hunter's Competitive Cheer. From 2014-2016, Tonia was the head Cheer Coach at Southwest Edgecombe HS and led the team to a national championship.

Tonia was also the Cheer Coach at the East Carolina Cheer and Tumbling School in Greenville where she helped lead multiple teams to national championships and coached athletes from ages 4-15.

Tonia graduated from ECU in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science. She plans on receiving her Master of Business Administration from UNC-Pembroke in May of 2022 as well.

She resides in Pinetops, NC with her husband Lee.
