Amherst, Va. / Fayetteville, N.C. - Sophomore David White tied for 1st-place at this week's Lynchburg Invitational, helping his N.C. Wesleyan golf team secure a 3rd-place finish at the two-day event held at the par-72 Poplar Grove Golf Club.

White led the 53-man field after shooting an opening-round 72. He then shot a 76 on day two to finish tied with Marymount's Keegan Boone and Shepherd's Ryan Crabtree at +4 for the tourney. White proceeded to finish 3rd in the scorecard playoff.

White's performance helped the Bishops finish third overall among nine competing teams. NCWC's day one 307 gave the Bishops a 2-stroke lead heading into the final round, and Wesleyan went on to card a 309 on day two, which was bested by eventual champion Marymount's 302 and 2nd-place Shepherd's 301. The Bishops finished five strokes off the lead.

Freshman Grady Anderson continued his solid play with rounds of 75 and 77 to finish in 8th-place at +8. Additionally, sophomore Ben Gillon was a top-15 finisher at +13 (81-76).  Freshman Alexander Kidd's rounds of 79 and 80 also figured into the team scores, while junior Pearce Parsons rounded out Wesleyan's competitors (82-83).

Anderson's 8th-place billing at Lynchburg comes on the heels of his first career tournament win last week at Virginia Wesleyan, and the two performances have earned the Camp Lejeune, N.C. native USA South Rookie of the Week recognition.  At VWC, Anderson shot an even-par 210 with rounds of 71, 69, and 70 to help solidify his selection by the league.

Next up for the Bishops is the Marine FCU Intercollegiate slated for April 1-3 in Jacksonville.
