Rome, Ga. - Led by sophomore Grady Anderson and freshman Mariano Silvestri, the N.C. Wesleyan golf team tied for 4th-place at this week's Chick-Fil-A Intercollegiate hosted by Berry College. Anderson and Silvestri tied for 15th among a field of 93 golfers, leading their Bishops to solid team rounds of 299 and 300. Wesleyan tied with last year's Division III National Runner-Up Huntingdon College and beat out three other top-50 teams (Sewanee, Birmingham Southern, Augsburg).

Sophomore Alexander Kidd paced the Bishops in Monday's opening round, turning in a career-best 73. He was followed closely by senior Matthew May's 74, while Silvestri's 75 and Anderson's 77 wrapped up NCWC's 299. Monday's opening round alone featured 16 birdies.

Anderson, who connected on his first career hole-in-one in Sunday's practice round, paced Wesleyan in Tuesday's final round with an even-par 72. Junior David White contributed a 73, followed by Silvestri's 74. May's 81 completed NCWC's 300 round, which included 12 more birdies for the Bishops.

White finished at +8 for the tourney, as did freshman John Thornton who tied for 29th playing as an individual. May's +11 was good for 40th overall.

Medalist honors went to Osborn Theam of LaGrange College, who posted rounds of 65 and 70 to finish at -9. Rhodes College secured the team title with a two-day score of 571 (286-285, -5).

Wesleyan wraps up the fall portion of its schedule next Monday and Tuesday, the 24th and 25th, at St. Andrews University's Fall Invitational. The two-day event will be held at Laurinburg's Scotch Meadows Country Club.
