Battling Bishops Suffer 2-0 Road Shutout at Lynchburg

Lynchburg, Va. - Lynchburg College posted a 2-0 shutout of the N.C. Wesleyan men's soccer team on Saturday, netting single goals in each period. The Hornets held an 18-8 lead in shots on the night.

LC's Ben Grossfuss scored the eventual gamewinner at the 15:34 mark off a Thomas Salamone assist. The Hornets carried that 1-0 lead into the break and later capitalized on a Bishop turnover in the 72nd minute for their second score.

Wesleyan managed just two shots-on-goal in the match, both coming in the first half and saved by LC keeper Cory Budka. NCWC sophomore Jesper Olsson made five saves in net.

Now 1-1 on the season, the Bishops will host their home opener on Wednesday afternoon versus Christopher Newport University. Game time is scheduled for 4:00pm at Scalf Field.
