Lookout Mountain, Ga. / Maryville, Tenn. - The men's soccer team of N.C. Wesleyan split a pair of USA South matches over the weekend, downing Covenant 1-0 on Friday before dropping a 2-1 double OT decision to Maryville on Saturday.

On Friday versus Covenant, junior Caetano Viegas assisted on a Joe Storer goal in the 49th minute to give Wesleyan its second 1-0 victory of the week. The Scots managed just one shot-on-goal in the match, which was saved by NCW keeper Jesper Olsson.

The Bishops then headed to Maryville for a Saturday match-up featuring two of the top teams in the conference. Viegas got Wesleyan on the board first with an unassisted goal just 39 seconds in, but Maryville would net the equalizer with 15 minutes remaining to force overtime. The match seemed destined to end in a draw until MVC's Caleb Lucas tallied the Golden Goal at the 102:40 mark.

Maryville held a 19-12 advantage in shots on the day, with Olsson notching six saves. Jon Taylor made a trio of saves for the Scots (10-1-1, 4-0-1 USA South).

Wesleyan (6-5-1, 4-1 USA South) returns home to host William Peace University next Saturday at 3:00pm.
