Bishop Men Advance to Tourney Semifinals with 5-0 Win over AU

Rocky Mount, N.C. - Caetano Viegas netted two goals and Jesper Olsson made five saves to lead their Battling Bishop men's soccer team to a 5-0 win over Averett University in the first round of the 2015 USA South Soccer Tournament.

In addition to his two scores, Viegas added a pair of assists, which included helping on Olafur Einarsson's eventual gamewinner in the 5th minute. Viegas later made it 3-0 at the break with goals in the 9th (from Halldor Bjarneyjarson) and and 23rd (from Einarsson) minutes.

The second half saw Viegas find AJ Wadda in the 71st minute, while Drew Wiltse closed out the scoring at the 77:30 mark with a goal assisted by Daniel Kamdem.

It was more than enough for Olsson, who picked up his eighth win in net. The Bishops held a 23-16 advantage in shots in the match and a 5-3 edge in corners.

Wesleyan (9-8-1) advances to the semifinal round next Friday at Greensboro College. Seeded #4 overall, the Bishops will take on the top-seeded Pride at 2:30pm.
