Men's Soccer Plays to scoreless draw with Piedmont

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.- The NC Wesleyan men's soccer team kept their five-game unbeaten streak alive, but could not find the winning goal in playing to a scoreless draw with conference foe Piedmont College on Saturday afternoon at Scalf Field.

Wesleyan goes to 4-4-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference while Piedmont goes to 7-1-3 and 5-0-3 in the West Division of the USA South.

Freshman midfielder Matteo Costa led with seven shots overall as the Bishops outshot the Lions 24-3 in the game, but couldn't muster the goal they needed. Wesleyan had numerous chances in the overtime periods including a golden opportunity late into the second overtime with two shots on goal from junior defender Tyler Jones and freshman forward Cadribo Godfrey, but just missed and settled for the tie.

Freshman goalkeeper Julian Bergman played well making 3 saves for his shutout while the Piedmont keeper made six saves.

The Bishops are not in action again until next Saturday when they travel to face Brevard College at 11 AM.
