Men's Soccer Puts Away VA Wesleyan Early in Home Opener

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Men's Soccer team cruised to a dominating 4-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan in their home opener on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bishops got out to a very fast start as junior forward Baboucarr Njie scored jsut 90 seconds into the game off an assist from sophomore Lorenzo Cocchia to give Wesleyan the early lead.

Wesleyan then struck again 15 minutes later with a strike from Dominique Giovannini to put the Bishops up 2-0.

Wesleyan then finished the first half with their third goal as sophomore midfielder Matteo Costa put NCWC up 3-0 in the 39th minute. Costa would then add his second goal of the match jsut 7 minutes into the second half off an assist from Giovannini as Wesleyan went up 4-0 on the Marlins.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tobias Borzel made 3 saves on 4 shots on goal for the win, his and the team's second straight as they both improve to 2-1 on the year.

The Bishops will now remain home for their next four matches, all conference, when they host Huntingdon College (Ala.) on Saturday at 2:00 PM on Youth Celebration Day.
