Men's Soccer Rolls Past Huntingdon 4-0

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 shutout win in their conference opener against Huntingdon College (Ala.) on Saturday.

Wesleyan scored their first goal in the 15th minute as sophomore Jack Holden scored unassisted. Wesleyan also outshot the Hawks by an impressive count of 16-0 in the first half.

The Bishops got right back on the board just 7 minutes into the second half when senior Joe Brooks used a Lucas Menzo assist to put the Bishops up 2-0. 

Five minutes later, sophomore forward Lorenzo Cocchia would then add two more goals of his own in a span of two minutes to give Wesleyan an insurmountable 4-0 lead. Junior MF Dominique Giovannini assisted on the first Cocchia goal while Menzo and freshman David Gonzales assisted on the second goal.

Wesleyan ended up outshooting the Hawks 27-1 overall as they improved to 3-1 on the year and dropped HC to 2-2 and 0-1.

The Bishops are back in action on Sunday to host LaGrange College at 2 PM at Scalf Field.
