Wesleyan Soccer Crushes LaGrange 6-0

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team poured it on conference foe LaGrange College on Sunday afternoon cruising to an easy 6-0 shutout win.

The Bishops improve to 4-1 overall with their 4th straight win and 2-0 in the USA South while Lagrange drops to 2-4 and 1-1.

Junior Forward Baboucarr Njie got the Bishops on the board early scoring unassisted in the 8th minute of play. He would then add another goal just 10 minutes later as he scored off a beautiful pass from sophomore midfielder Lucas Menzo. Njie now has 4 goals on the season while Menzo has 3 assists.

Just 75 seconds later, sophomore forward Lorenzo Cocchia extended the Bishops' lead to 3-0 with his goal off a nice assist from junior midfielder Dom Giovannini. Wesleyan would take that lead and an 11-1 shot advantage into halftime.

Six minutes into the second half, LaGrange then shot a ball into the Bishops net for an own goal upping Wesleyan's lead to 4-0. Sophomore David Olabisi then scored his first of the year unassisted in the 69th minute of action for the Bishops while Giovannini added his 2nd goal of the year just 3 minutes later as he tapped in a loose ball off a misplay by the Panther keeper. Giovannini now has 3 assists and 7 points on the season as well.

Wesleyan finished with a 21-2 shot count advantage while sophomore keeper Tobias Borzel made 2 saves.

The Bishops are next in action on Wednesday evening as they make the short jaunt to Wilson, NC to battle Div. II Barton College at 7 PM in a makeup game that was postponed due to Hurricane Dorian.
