Men's Soccer Finishes in Draw with Barton

WILSON, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team finished their non-conference matchup with Div. II Barton College (N.C.) in a 1-1 draw on the road Wednesday evening.

After a scoreless first half with the shot count tied at 6 apiece, the Bishops finally broke through with a goal from senior defender Joe Brooks in the 55th minute from about 25 yards out. 

The Bishops then held that lead until 8 minutes remained in the game when Barton struck with the tying goal in the 83rd minute.

Wesleyan outshot the Bulldogs 8-5 in the second half while Barton had the slim 4-3 shot advantage in the overtime periods. Sophomore goalkeeper Tobias Borzel finished the match making 6 saves on 7 shots on goal while junior forward Baboucarr Njie finished with 7 shot attempts to lead the team.

Wesleyan is now 4-1-1 and will next return home to host Mary Baldwin (Va.) on Saturday at 2 PM as they look to keep their unbeaten streak alive at 5 games.
