Bishop Soccer Falls at Covenant

LOOKOUT MTN., Ga. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team saw their 7-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Friday afternoon as they fell 4-1 at USA South West rival and unbeaten Covenant College (Ga.).

Covenant got on the board first in the 11th minute before the Bishops tied it at one just one minute later with a goal from junior forward Baboucarr Njie off an assist from Lorenzo Cocchia. The game would go into the half tied at 1.

Covenant would then start the second half by scoring two goals in the opening 15 minutes to take a 3-1 lead. The Scots would then put it out of reach with their fourth goal in the 76th minute of action to clinch the win.

Unbeaten Covenant improves to 4-0 in the conference with the win and 7-0-1 overall while Wesleyan drops to 6-2-1 and 4-1 in the league.

Wesleyan did manage to outshoot the Scots 13-12 while sophomore goalkeeper Tobias Borzel made 4 saves on 8 shots on goal. Sophomore midfielder Matteo Costa led the team with 4 shots and 3 on goal.

The Bishops are back in action tomorrow at 2 PM to play at Piedmont College (Ga.).
