Men's Soccer Holds on for 3-2 win over Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. - The NC Wesleyan College Men's Soccer team held on for a 3-2 conference win over West Division foe Piedmont College on the road Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore forward Lorenzo Cocchia got the Bishops on the board first with his goal in the 20th minute of play off an assist from Baboucarr Njie. Njie then came back with his penalty kick goal just 14 seconds into the second half to give the Bishops a 2-0 lead. It was his 8th goal of the season.

Wesleyan then got their game-winning goal just 15 seconds later as Matteo Costa scored off a short cross from Njie to give Wesleyan a 3-0 lead.

Piedmont would add their own penalty kick in the 53rd minute before adding a second goal in the 72nd minute.

Wesleyan keeper Tobias Borzel made one save as the Bishops outshot the Lions 23-8 overall and 12-2 in the first half. 

Wesleyan improves to 7-2-1 overall and 5-1 in the USA South while Piedmont falls to 3-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference.

The Bishops are next in action on Tuesday at 5 PM when they head to Averett University.
