DANVILLE, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College Men's Soccer team rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to come back and destroy rival Averett University (Va.) 6-1 on the road Tuesday.

A 16th minute goal from Averett had them thinking upset until the Bishops tied it late in the first half on a goal from junior forward Baboucarr Njie on a free kick in the 43rd minute. Wesleyan would take their 25-1 shot advantage into the second half where they would make Averett finally wilt and power on five more goals for the win.

It began with a Lorenzo Cocchia goal in the 54th minute off a Njie assist before Wesleyan out it away with two goals in a span of 60 seconds over the 61st-62nd minutes. Sophomore MF Matteo Costa got the Bishops' third goal off a Rodrigo Gongora-Soto assist while Soto then assisted Njie on his second goal a minute later to stake the Bishops to a 4-1 lead.

After the 5th goal of the game from freshman Juan Vilches-Paez, Njie would cap off his stellar game by completing a hat trick with his third goal and 11th of the season in the 72nd minute of play to help the Bishops improve to 8-2-1 on the season and 6-1 in the USA South. Averett falls to 3-8 overall and 1-5 in the league.

Wesleyan will now prepare to host rival Greensboro College on Saturday at 2:00 PM from Scalf Field.
