Men's Soccer Shuts Out Greensboro

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team played together throughout and came through late to post a solid 2-0 win over rival Greensboro College on Saturday afternoon.

The Bishops improve to 9-2-1 overall with the win and 7-1 in the conference as they sit atop the East Division.

After a scoreless first half that saw the Bishops post a 9-1 shot advantage, Wesleyan would finally find the net in the 82nd minute as sophomore midfielder Matteo Costa scored off an assist from junior forward Baboucarr Njie.

Njie then added a big insurance goal in the 89th minute to clinch the win. The goal was his 12th on the season as Wesleyan outshot the Pride 18-7 overall with goalkeeper Tobias Borzel also making 3 saves in the shutout win. 

Njie led the team with 5 shots attempted while midfielder Matteo Costa had four.

Greensboro falls to 6-5-1 and 4-2 in the conference with the loss.

The Bishops are off until next weekend when they remain home to host Pfeiffer University at 4:00 PM on Senior Day at Scalf Field.
