USA South Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Joe Brooks, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior defender from Bristol, England anchored a defense which allowed just two goals and posted two shutouts as the Battling Bishops posted a 3-0 record last week against USA South competition. The Bishops topped William Peace, 3-2, Berea, 1-0, and Maryville, 2-0, last week. In the win over Maryville, Brooks tallied an insurance goal in the 71st minute.
Brooks beat out five other nominees for his first career weekly conference award.
He will next lead the 13-2-1 East Division-leading Bishops into their final regular season match of the season at Methodist University on Saturday at 7 PM before they will return home to host a conference tournament playoff game the following week.
