Men's Soccer Has Five Named to All-State Teams

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina –
The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2019 College Division All-State Men's Soccer Teams on Monday afternoon. A total of 22 student-athletes from eight different North Carolina schools were named to the first and second teams.

Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members.

The 2019 USA South Conference Champion Battling Bishop Men's Soccer team had five individuals named to the NCCSIA All-State First and Second Teams. Senior defender Joe Brooks, junior forward Baboucarr Njie, sophomore midfielder Matteo Costa, and sophomore goalkeeper Tobias Borzel were all named to the All-State First team while sophomore forward Lorenzo Cocchia was named to the Second team.

Brooks, Costa and Njie were also first team all-conference selections this season while Borzel was named USA South Tournament MVP in helping the Bishops to a 16-3-2 record this season.

Founded in 2002, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
