Men's Soccer's Boompong Takes Decade Athlete of the Week Award

In the absence of competition in the fall semester and its postponement to the spring semester, the USA South Athletic Conference will continue selecting athletes of the week. The selections, however, will not be based on current competition but instead the nominees will be those who earned an athlete of the week honor in a particular category within the current week over the past decade. Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week

Kobi Boompong, N.C. Wesleyan (October 17, 2016) - The freshman midfielder from Bakoteh, Gambia notched three goals and two assists in a 3-0 week for the Bishops versus USA South competition. In a 5-1 win over William Peace, Boompong scored twice, including the eventual game-winner, and added an assist. In a 4-1 win over Huntingdon, Boompong was held scoreless with two shots. Finally, in a 7-1 victory over LaGrange, Boompong assisted on the game's opening score before notching the eventual game winning goal in the 14th minute.
