Bishop Men fall in Overtime at Maryville

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team fell 2-1 in two overtimes to West Division foe Maryville College in their neutral site matchup in Charlotte on Friday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, Maryville broke open the scoring with a goal in the 64th minute of action. Then with under 4 minutes left, the Bishops found the tying goal as sophomore Agustin Rodriguez headed the ball over the keeper's arms off a cross from freshman Matteo Simonini.

Wesleyan had outshot the Scots throughout the game 18-7, but fell on a goal to the back post from MC in the 2nd minute of the 2nd overtime. The Bishops totaled 6 shots in the first half and 10 in the second with goalkeeper Matteo Torchio making just one save.

Wesleyan falls to 1-4-1 with the OT loss while MC improves to 5-1. The Bishops return to action next Wednesday with a road game at Virginia Wesleyan.
