ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - the NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team dropped a battle for the top seed in the East Division on Wednesday afternoon falling 3-1 to William Peace University from Scalf Field.

WPU got out to a fast start in this matchup scoring on a strike from about 15 yards out in the 9th minute of the first half to take a 1-o lead. The Pacers would then add another goal 5 minutes later off a corner kick and a keeper's save that rebounded back to Peace and into the net to go up 2-0 just 15 minutes into the game.

Peace (9-1-1, 4-1-1) then made it 3-0 midway through the second half scoring off another free kick. Wesleyan's sophomore midfielder Juan Simoniello then tried to make it 3-1 soon after but his penalty kick was saved by the Peace keeper.

Simoniello, though, would add the first goal for the Bishops later on in the half scoring in the 87th minute, but it was too little too late as Wesleyan fell 3-1.

The Bishops received just 3 saves from senior keeper Tobias Borzel while Simoniello led with 3 shots as Wesleyan falls to 6-7-2 overall and 4-2 in the East.

NC Wesleyan will finish up their conference schedule on Saturday at 2 PM at home against Pfeiffer as they celebrate Senior day.
