Wesleyan Tallies Pair of Sweeps in Men's Tennis

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The 5th-ranked Battling Bishop men's tennis team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a pair of dominating 9-0 sweeps versus Washington College and Shenandoah University this week.

Versus Washington on Wednesday, the Bishop tandem of Marcelo Prata and Anton Filonov turned in an 8-6 victory in their first action at #1 doubles. Typically the #3 seed for NCWC, the duo is now a perfect 7-0 on the season. The teams of Peter Hviid/Rinat Khussainov and Clayton Sonn/Dominic Forsdike were also winners in doubles play.

In singles action, Khussainov, Alexey RumyantsevViktor Selander, Artsiom Prostak, Sonn and Hviid were all straight-set winners.

Against Shenandoah on Saturday, the Bishops did not surrender a game in doubles play and gave up only three games over six singles matches.

Wesleyan (7-1, 2-0 USA South) will now travel to Hilton Head, S.C. on Monday for a neutral site match versus the University of Chicago.
