Rocky Mount, N.C. - By virtue of a 9-0 sweep of Methodist on Monday, the Battling Bishop men's tennis team has captured its fourth straight undefeated USA South Regular Season Championship! NCWC finishes the regular season with a 14-2 overall record and a perfect 6-0 mark in league play.
Also of note, the victory is the 30th straight for the Battling Bishops over USA South opponents dating back to the 2009 season.
Wesleyan had jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles play last Wednesday before storms suspended the match until Monday. The Bishops wasted little time completing the sweep this afternoon by recording six straight-set wins in singles action.
As the #1 seed in this weekend's conference tournament, Wesleyan receives a first round bye and will take on the winner of 4th-seeded Methodist and 5th-seeded Greensboro on Saturday at 2:00pm in Burlington. The nationally-ranked Bishops will be seeking their fourth straight tourney crown and NCAA berth.
