LaGrange, Ga. - Freshman Johan Ljungdahl went a combined 4-0 at the #1 singles and #2 doubles flights to lead his Battling Bishop men's tennis team to a pair of 9-0 USA South sweeps over the weekend at Piedmont and LaGrange, respectively. Wesleyan, which is currently ranked #15 in the nation, moves to 3-0 in league play.

Versus Piedmont on Saturday, Mikhail Konnov and Peter Hviid got the Bishops started with an 8-4 win at the top doubles slot. Ljungdahl and partner Marcus Pola followed suit with an 8-2 victory at the #2 seed, while Panayot Kusidi and Eduardo Ugalde were 8-4 winners at the #3 position.

It was more of the same in singles play, as Ljungdahl, Hviid, Pola, Ugalde and Kusidi won in straights at the #1, #2, #4, #5 and #6 flights. Konnov secured the shutout with a 10-5 tiebreak win at the #3 seed.

Against LaGrange on Sunday, the same Wesleyan line-up simply dominated the Panthers. The Bishops surrendered just two games over the course of the match -- one in doubles play and one in singles action -- en route to the sweep.

Wesleyan (6-6, 3-0 USA South) returns to action at home next weekend when the Bishops host league matches with Ferrum and Maryville on Saturday and Sunday.
