Fredericksburg, Va. - The men's tennis team of North Carolina Wesleyan was in action this weekend at the University of Mary Washington's Kickoff Classic. Senior Robert Kjellberg faired well in the tourney, posting a 3-0 record in singles action versus the top players from George Mason, Mary Washington and Washington & Lee.
Also picking up victories in singles play were junior Peter Hviid and freshman Eduardo Ugalde, who each knocked off players from Washington & Lee. Hviid went on to secure a pair of doubles victories with sophomore Mikhail Konnov. The duo was a 9-8 winner over Mary Washington before turning in an 8-5 victory over Washington and Lee.
Additionally, Kjellberg teamed with freshman Johan Ljungdahl for a 9-7 win over the host Eagles' top seed. Ugalde and senior Panayot Kusidi also picked up a doubles victory over UMW by an 8-5 tally.
Wesleyan returns to action this weekend at the ITA Fall Regionals in Sewanee, Tenn.
