Rocky Mount, N.C. - The NCWC men's tennis team won two of its three matches this week, picking up USA South wins over Averett and Greensboro but falling to Division II Barton College. The Bishops are now 6-6 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 4-0.

The week began with a 8-1 win at Averett on Tuesday. The duos of Sebastian Sikh/Peter Hviid (8-2), Mikhail Konnov/J.D. Telles (8-6), and Ioannis Brokakis/Mark Sokolov (8-0) gave the Bishops a 3-0 sweep in doubles, while Sikh, Brokakis, Sokolov, Telles, and Eduardo Ugalde were all straight-set winners in singles action. The Cougars' lone point came via a superset win at #5 singles, 10-6.

On Saturday, head coach Dustin Hale used 15 different players to face Barton and Greensboro simultaneously at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center.

Versus the Bulldogs, doubles victories at the top two seeds by Sikh/Hviid (8-5) and Telles/Konnov (8-6) gave NCWC an early 2-1 advantage. Unfortunately, Barton was able to take four of six matches in singles play to complete the come-from-behind 5-4 win. Brokakis and Telles were winners at #2 and #4 in straights, but a key three-set win by BC at #3 proved to be the difference in the match.

Against Greensboro, the tandems of David Chang/Sebastian Wiiala, Ben Tolhurst/Augustin Gonzalez, and Richard Gende/Salvador Estrada did not surrender a game in doubles play en route to a 3-0 lead. In singles action, Chang, Gende, Henry Lam, Tolhurst, Wiiala, and Jaime Ortega completed the sweep with straight-set wins at #1 through #6.

Wesleyan continues USA South play next Friday and Saturday with a pair of home matches versus Piedmont on Friday (2:00pm) and Maryville (12:00pm) on Saturday.
