NCWC Men Win Trio of League Matches, Fall at Division II Barton

Wilson, N.C. / Raleigh, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis won a trio of league matches this week, taking two at Ferrum on Monday and sweeping William Peace on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the Bishops saw their 11-match winning streak come to an end with a 6-3 loss at Division II Barton the same day. The Bishops split their squad both days to pull of the dual contests and now stand at 12-4 overall, 6-0 in conference play.

All three USA South matches were won by 9-0 scores, and the Bishops did not drop a set. Coupled with the Barton contest, the four-match span saw David Appelqvist and Richard Gende each go 3-0 in singles play, while ten different Bishop players also tallied victories.

Sebastian Sikh and Ioannis Brokakis paced doubles action with a 2-0 mark at the #1 seed, which included an impressive 8-5 win over Barton's top duo.

Wesleyan returns home this weekend to host a pair of matches at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center, beginning with USA South rival Methodist University on Saturday at noon. The Bishops will then host Pacific University (Ore.) on Sunday at 1:00pm.
