Men's Tennis Takes Two at Ferrum to Extend Win Streak to Ten

Ferrum, Va. - The men's tennis team of N.C. Wesleyan won a pair of USA South matches at Ferrum College on Thursday, both by 9-0 scores. The Bishops have now won ten straight and extend their USA South win streak to 98 matches (including the conference tournament) dating back to 2009.

Thursday's matches at Ferrum saw head coach Albie Brice shake up his line-up as junior Ioannis Brokakis posted a pair of straight-set victories at #1 singles over the Panthers' Kevin Ramirez. The first match also saw J.D. Telles, Roberto Puig, Aditya Iyer, David Chang, and Mark Sokolov turn in singles wins at #2 through #6, respectively, all by 6-0, 6-0 scores. NCWC had previously cruised in doubles action with senior Sebastian Sikh  getting his only action of the day at #3 doubles, where he teamed with Chang for an 8-0 win.

Match two saw Brokakis, Iyer, and Sokolov join with Augustin Gonzalez, Stan Martherus, and Ramiro Schachmann for six singles wins in straights. The Bishops also posted a trio of 8-0 wins in doubles action, led by Brokakis/Puig at the top spot.

The 24th-ranked Bishops (13-3, 8-0 USA South), who recently moved up to #7 regionally, travel to Methodist University on Wednesday for a 1:00pm match with the Monarchs in Fayetteville. Wesleyan has yet to surrender a point in conference play this season.
