21st Ranked Tennis Fall to #14 UMW

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The 21st ranked NC Wesleyan College men's tennis team fell 6-3 on the road to #15 Mary Washington University on Friday evening.

UMW got off to a 2-1 lead in doubles as the Bishops #1 and #2 teams fell 8-4 and 8-3 respectively while the #3 team of sophomore Max Robinson and sophomore Nikita Revin won 8-6.

Winning in singles for Wesleyan was sophomore Juan Vallejo at the 2 line with a 6-4, 6-2 victory while Revin won at the 4 line in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Junior Roberto Puig and Robinson also dropped heartbreaking three-set battles at the 1 and 6 lines respectively. Puig fell 2-6, 6-3, 3-6 while Robinson won his first set 6-2 but fell 1-6, 6-7.

Sophomore Jhonny Acosta also lost a close battle at the third line 7-6, 6-3 as well.

Wesleyan falls to 1-1 on the year while UMW improves to 1-0.

The Bishops are next in action next Friday when they head up to CNU (Va.) to battle the always competitive Captains for a 5 PM tilt.
