Men's Tennis Wins Player and Doubles Team of the Week

Men's Tennis Player of the Week:

Jhonny Acosta, N.C. Wesleyan - The sophomore from Ita, Paraguay earned a 3-0 singles and doubles record last week for the Battling Bishops against teams ranked within the top-40 national rankings. At the number-three singles position, Acosta defeated opponents from Salisbury (2-6, 6-1, 6-1), Johns Hopkins (6-3, 6-1) and New York University (6-4, 6-0). At the number-two doubles spot, Acosta teamed with Ingmar Remmerswaal to collect the three wins, including one, 8-6, over the nationally 14th-ranked doubles team from Johns Hopkins. 

Acosta is now 6-1 on the season overall and 5-2 in doubles.

Men's Doubles Team of the Week:

Jhonny Acosta and Ingmar Remmerswaal, N.C. Wesleyan - The Battling Bishop duo earned a 3-0 record at the number-two doubles spot last week. Acosta and Remmerswaal, a senior, earned wins over opponents from top-40 nationally-ranked Salisbury, Johns Hopkins and New York University. In a match against Johns Hopkins, Acosta and Remmerswaal defeated the 14th-ranked doubles team in the nation, 8-6. 

Acosta and Remmerswaal will next lead the 4-3 Bishops into a Div. II battle with Mount Olive on March 23 at 2 PM.
